JCE has recently completed a 63 kW Star Delta starter system for a client requiring a reliable and compact control solution for an existing piece of equipment. The project called for a design that would not only integrate seamlessly with the customer’s current setup but also meet stringent safety and certification standards.

The client approached JCE to develop a starter control system that could operate within strict spatial constraints while maintaining compliance with hazardous area requirements. The engineering challenge lay in balancing thermal management, component layout, and certification compliance within the limited available space.

To achieve optimal performance, JCE’s engineering team carried out a detailed assessment of the existing installation and its operational demands.

Key design highlights include:

  • Three-Enclosure Configuration: The system was divided into EJB60 and EJB4 control enclosures, alongside a separate I.S. (Intrinsically Safe) barrier enclosure.
  • Thermal Efficiency: The separation of enclosures helped manage internal heat levels, maintaining temperatures within certified limits.
  • Certified Conduit Glands: All enclosures were interconnected using certified conduit glands, ensuring integrity and compliance with ATEX and IECEx standards.

Safety was central to the design. The system complied with all relevant temperature certification conditions, preventing overheating and ensuring safe operation in potentially explosive environments. JCE’s adherence to Ex d and Ex e protection methods reinforced the system’s reliability and compliance.

Prior to delivery, the assembly underwent a comprehensive client witness test, confirming operational performance and safety compliance. The successful completion of this test demonstrated the quality and robustness of JCE’s engineering and manufacturing processes.

The final system delivered to the client met all technical, spatial, and safety requirements. Its compact and modular design ensures easy integration with existing infrastructure while maintaining the durability and reliability expected from JCE’s engineered solutions.

With an IP66 certification, JCE’s explosion-proof pilot lights offer excellent protection against dust and high-pressure water jets, ensuring reliability even in the harshest conditions.

This project exemplifies JCE’s ability to engineer bespoke, compliant control systems for demanding industrial environments. Through innovative design, precise engineering, and rigorous testing, JCE continues to provide safe and efficient solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
