JCE Celebrates Innovation Award Win at Northern Star Business Awards
PRESS RELEASE JCE Energy Ltd., a specialist in off-grid power solutions for hazardous areas, has been awarded the prestigious Inspiration…
JCE has a contract in place to manufacture Ex d hazardous area enclosures for a long-standing customer specialising in pipeline pig control and monitoring technology. The enclosures are used within the customer’s pig location and tracking systems, providing a robust housing solution for electrical and electronic equipment.
Locating a pig as it moves through a pipeline is an important part of monitoring its progress. The equipment used for this purpose needs to operate in demanding industrial environments, including locations where hazardous area requirements must be considered.
The customer required durable Ex d enclosures for use within its pipeline pig location and tracking systems. These enclosures needed to house sensitive electrical and electronic equipment while accommodating the connections and components required by the wider system.
For hazardous area equipment, an enclosure is more than a protective outer casing. It forms an integral part of the overall protection concept. Its construction, internal arrangement and interfaces must be considered in relation to the equipment it houses and the conditions in which the finished assembly will be used.
The requirement therefore extended beyond supplying an enclosure of a suitable size.
JCE provides Ex d enclosures for integration into the customer’s specialist systems. By working closely with the customer, the team can develop an enclosure solution around the requirements of the application.
Depending on the system configuration, JCE can provide bespoke assemblies incorporating electrical and electronic components, cable entries, terminals, controls, instrumentation and labelling. Considering these elements together helps ensure that the enclosure supports the function of the equipment inside it and its connection to the wider pig location and tracking system.
This approach allows the practical details of the assembly to be addressed as part of the hazardous area solution, rather than after the enclosure has been selected.
JCE’s Ex d enclosures provide the customer with a durable, certified housing solution for equipment used in pipeline pig location and tracking. They help protect the electrical and electronic components within the customer’s systems while supporting their intended use in hazardous area applications.
The long-standing relationship reflects the importance of collaboration in specialist engineering projects. By understanding what the customer’s equipment needs to do, JCE can continue to supply enclosure solutions that fit the application and support the development of its pipeline monitoring systems.
