JCE Level Gauging System: Ensuring Safety and Efficiency for Gas Bottling Leaders

JCE designed and implemented a state-of-the-art level gauging and alarm system for the UK’s leading bottled gas supplier, enhancing safety, efficiency, and operational capabilities at their gas bottling plant. The innovative solution addressed key challenges, such as modernizing outdated equipment and ensuring continuous operation, resulting in significant improvements in safety and efficiencys.

JCE was awarded a contract by UK’s leading bottled gas supplier in the UK, to design, build, supply, install, and commission a turnkey level gauging and alarm system for their gas bottling plant in England. The system provides a  real-time monitoring of gas levels in five storage vessels, displaying  readings in multiple locations onsite, and capable of transmitted data to the head office via GSM (global system for communications). This improved safety, efficiency, and operational capabilities.

• The client needed a way to maintain continuous operation during system installation and testing
• The client required for a secure way of ensuring accurate LPG levels were communicated to all concerned parties
• The solution had to be future proof for the level gauging of LPG gas

JCE designed and installed a level gauging and alarm system featuring:

• • Level sensors for each storage vessel
  • Local displays in key locations (pump house, security office, maintenance office)
  • GSM connectivity for transmitting data to the head office
  • Emergency shut-down features
  • Solenoid isolation valves for safe and efficient tank transfer

• Improved Safety: The system included emergency shut-down features minimising downtime
• Enhanced Efficiency: Real-time level monitoring facilitated optimal planning for gas bottling and tanker operations, allowing for simultaneous transfer of LPG
• Increased Operational Capabilities: Independent tank isolation enabled continued operation during maintenance and re-filling of spare tanks
• Savings: Reduced downtime and improved efficiency translated to significant savings
